Newly elected Utah Democratic Party chairman Peter Corroon says the first thing he’s going to do is sit down with outgoing chair Jim Dabakis to find out what the job is really like.
“The state of the party is in good condition, financially,” says Corroon. “But we have the lowest number of legislators in a long time, and it’s my job to start turning that around. It’s not going to be an easy job, but we can start making changes.”
Corroon says, in order to accomplish that, the party needs to start making a play for voters outside of Salt Lake County.
“My gameplan is my 29-county plan. We need to start working with Democrats outside of our hub in Salt Lake County. We can pat ourselves on the back all day long, but until we start getting out into the rural areas and working with those groups, we are not going to be successful.”
