Sen. Mitt Romney took a shot at President Trump on Thursday, telling reporters he does not understand the claims that voting by mail disadvantages Republicans.
"In my state, I'll bet 90 percent of us vote by mail. It works very, very well and it's a very Republican state," Romney told reporters according to ABC News.
Trump has vehemently objected to states turning to vote by mail amid the COVID-19 pandemic. On Wednesday he threatened to withhold federal funds for Michigan and Nevada if they went ahead with plans to offer vote by mail in November. Trump voted by mail himself this year in Florida's primary election.
Utah has conducted vote-by-mail for years and has remained overwhelmingly Republican during that time.
A recent study from Stanford University found that vote by mail does not give an advantage to either party.
