Utahns say the most important long term issues for the state are education and job development.
Those are the results of a new UtahPolicy.com poll that asked what the most pressing issues were for Utah's future. 88% said education was important to the state's future, while 77% said job development. 55% told us transportation was important to the state's future, 67% said healthcare reform, 62% said immigration policy and 69% said air quality.
68% of Utahns ranked education as "very important." No other issue broke 50% on that response.
Republicans, Democrats and independent voters all picked education as their top issue.
Air quality saw the sharpest partisan divide. 90% of Democrats ranked it as important to the state's future, but only 62% of Republicans and 69% of independent voters said it was an important issue.
Health care reform saw a similar division along party lines. Only 65% of Republicans and 61% of independent voters named it as an important issue while 87% of Democrats ranked it as crucial to Utah's future.
The survey was conducted by Dan Jones and Associates from December 22, 2014 to January 10, 2015 among 715 registered voters. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.66%
