Salt Lake Chamber Statement on the Cox-Henderson FY2023 budget proposal

Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and Downtown Alliance, issued the following statement regarding Governor Spencer J. Cox’s fiscal year 2023 budget proposal:

“Utah’s economic success story is one of strength, resilience, opportunity and prosperity. We are frequently known as the best state for business, and for this to continue we must remain focused on our future. Governor Cox’s One Utah Roadmap and budget priorities align with some of the state’s biggest challenges and provide the opportunity to renew Utah’s success.

“As the state’s largest business association, the Salt Lake Chamber is committed to efforts focused on furthering a stable growth trajectory. These include developing more affordable housing, eliminating barriers to underserved populations and providing greater access to opportunities, prioritizing talent and workforce investments through upskilling and apprenticeship programs, and supporting the conservation of Utah’s natural resources. We applaud the forward-thinking investments outlined in the Governor’s budget and appreciate the dedication to sound fiscal policies that will foster Utah’s long-term prosperity.

“We look forward to working with the Cox-Henderson administration and Utah Legislature to find innovative solutions for our shared priorities, as well as to stand united for the good of our community as we emerge from the pandemic.”
