State Auditor releases limited review of Scofield Town

The Office of the State Auditor (Office) today releases its limited review of Scofield Town (Town). The Office received a complaint alleging potential misuse of public funds and noncompliance at Scofield Town.

State Auditor John Dougall continued to emphasize best practices for government entities, saying, “Proper separation of duties, or compensating controls, help to ensure that good people continue to make good decisions and help to prevent, or detect, potential bad actors who attempt to perpetuate fraud, waste or abuse of taxpayer funds. Following best practices, such as the use of purchase cards (p-cards) and fuel cards, limits the risk of abuse associated with credit cards. The Office continues to encourage governmental entities to strengthen their financial oversight policies and procedures. The Office provides an array of training and resources to assist these entities.”

The Review may be found directly on the Auditor’s website.
