Utah Valley University celebrates 2023 Homecoming Week

This year, Utah Valley University’s (UVU) Homecoming Week is themed “Forever a Place for You,” embodying UVU’s commitment to students and alumni alike. Celebrations are open to everyone and run from Feb. 6-11,2023. The earlier-than-usual commemoration coincides with basketball season.

“Welcoming Utah Valley University alumni back to campus for homecoming is always a time of excitement and optimism,” said Kyle Reyes, vice president of Institutional Advancement and CEO of the UVU Foundation. “One of the distinguishing characteristics of UVU alumni is their unwavering commitment and dedication to not only UVU but to the state and world. Our accomplished alumni span the globe as they make an impact each day as teachers, scientists, business owners, and community leaders. We invite all Wolverines back to campus for an exciting lineup of events and programming for the entire family.”

UVU men’s basketball is ranked second in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will face in-state rival Southern Utah University on Saturday, Feb. 11. The women’s game tips off at 2 pm, and the men’s game begins at 6 pm, both in the UCCU Center on UVU’s Orem Campus. Alumni are invited to the East Court at halftime to mingle and enjoy complimentary snacks.

Feb. 6 is also Alumni Night at The Noorda Center for the Performing Arts. The audience will enjoy classic and contemporary choreography from renowned dancer and choreographer Alvin Ailey in a performance of Ailey II.

On Feb. 10, UVU wrestling will take on the University of Northern Colorado in the Lockhart Arena on UVU’s Orem Campus. Other on-campus events include a pop-up T-shirt bar where students can create custom UVU shirts, a VIP date night for students, and student tailgates for women’s and men’s basketball.

“There are so many incredible things happening at UVU, and homecoming is a great excuse to return to campus,” said Kara North, president of the UVU Alumni Association Board. “From the sweatshirt swap to the men’s and women’s basketball games against in-state rival SUU, there is something for everyone and plenty to enjoy. Beat the winter-time blues by going green with us at homecoming!”
