Qualified Utah Valley University (UVU) graduates with any bachelor’s degree are now eligible for fast-track admissions and annual scholarships in the University of Utah’s (the U) Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program, thanks to a new agreement between the schools.
UVU students with bachelor’s degrees in healthcare administration will be given special consideration for admittance in this collaborative pathway. All UVU graduates admitted to the MHA program at the David Eccles School of Business will receive the UVU partnership scholarship.
Utah resident students will receive a $5,000 scholarship each year for two years, and non-resident students will receive $22,000. Students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA to qualify and maintain that GPA to retain the scholarship during the program.
“This new agreement benefits both the University of Utah and Utah Valley University but is a big win for our graduates who want a career in healthcare administration,” said Cheryl Hanewicz, dean of the College of Health and Public Service at UVU. “There is an overwhelming demand for healthcare workers, and this is one way both schools are working together to fill that demand and to help students succeed.”
When the program reaches 10 UVU applicants annually, students can apply for merit-based dean’s scholarships or need-based scholarships. UVU faculty and staff and Eccles School MHA admissions staff will select scholarship recipients.
The Master of Healthcare Administration program prepares students to work in healthcare in a business capacity. Students learn management, economics, accounting, finance, marketing, operations, healthcare quality, and leadership, all through healthcare administration-specific courses.
