Reps. Moore, Garamendi, Turner, Castor to Co-Chair the House Air Force Caucus

Representatives Blake Moore (R-UT), John Garamendi (D-CA), Mike Turner (R-OH), and Kathy Castor (D-FL) have convened the House Air Force Caucus as co-chairs for the 118th Congress. This bipartisan group includes 78 members and oversees issues impacting the U.S. Air Force. The caucus collaborates directly with the Secretary of the Air Force on specialized briefings, installation visits, and outreach opportunities with Air Force stakeholders throughout the year.

“Every time I visit Hill Air Force Base, I am even more inspired by the military and civilian workforce that supports the warfighter every single day,” said Congressman Moore. “Their commitment to excellence, safety, and our national security is a model of government operating at its best. This leadership position on the Air Force Caucus is an opportunity to amplify the great work being done at Hill Air Force Base and to advocate for the interests of the Air Force. I am eager to work with my co-chairs to champion the needs of our servicemembers, support our military families, and maintain the Air Force’s mission to ‘fly-fight-win.’”

“As the proud Representative of Travis Air Force Base—the gateway to the Pacific—I am honored to be a co-chair of the Air Force Caucus in the 118th Caucus,” said Congressman Garamendi. “We will work in a bipartisan manner to support the U.S. Air Force and service members so they can complete their important missions.”

“I look forward to working together in support of the missions and service members of the U.S. Air Force as they aim high in defense of America,” said Congresswoman Castor. “MacDill Air Force Base is in the heart of my Tampa Bay area district, and the men and women who serve there are central to our economic well-being and our national defense. Together, with my bipartisan co-chairs in the 118th Congress, we will lift up our Airmen and their families and ensure they have the resources necessary to ‘Fly-Fight-Win.”

“As the proud representative of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, I am honored to once again serve as a co-chair for the bipartisan and bicameral Air Force Caucus, said Congressman Turner. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on policies that support our men and women in uniform while providing the critical resources needed for the U.S. Air Force to successfully complete its missions.”

Hill Air Force Base is the Air Force’s second largest base by population and geographical size. It is home to F-35 and MMIII Depot maintenance and the Air Force’s first fully operational F-35 fighter wing to deploy abroad. The base is also the largest single-site employer in the state of Utah, with an economic impact of more than $7 billion annually.

The host organization at Hill Air Force Base is the 75th Air Base Wing, which oversees 1,000,000 acres and more than 1,700 facilities valued at $4 billion while providing installation support for the Ogden Air Logistics Complex, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Air Force active duty 388th and Reserve 419th Fighter Wings, and more than 50 mission partners that employ more than 27,000 personnel.

The base also has support responsibility for the operation of the Utah Test and Training Range. Located in Utah’s west desert, the airspace is situated over 2.3 million acres of land and contains the largest block of overland contiguous special-use airspace in the continental United States.
