Funding for transportation and water projects made possible by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act negotiated by Senator Romney
Utah continues to benefit from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the bipartisan infrastructure bill negotiated by U.S. Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) and his colleagues. Salt Lake City International Airport has been awarded a $29 million grant under the FY2023 Airport Terminal Program and the State of Utah has been awarded $12,226,000 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for water infrastructure upgrades throughout the state—both made possible because Senator Romney made sure Utah had a seat at the table during negotiations of the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

Funding will also go to help Utah communities complete much-needed water and wastewater projects. Background:
The funding for the new Salt Lake City International Airport will go toward a phased Terminal and North Concourse Redevelopment Program replacing aging and capacity constrained facilities. The grant funds a portion of Phase 4 of the New SLC includes 16 contact gates as well as up to 5 permanent hardstand positions in Concourse B.
The funding for clean water projects will support Utah communities in upgrading essential water, wastewater, and storm water infrastructure that protects public health and bodies of water. After the Utah Department of Environmental Quality puts forth prospective water projects under its Intended Use Plan for FY23, the EPA’s Water Quality Board will review applications for funding, which are due on June 30, 2023. Interviews will then be conducted by the board in September, depending on the volume of applications received. More details about the projects can be found here.
