Gov. Cox issues call for a Special Session

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox has called the Utah Legislature into Special Session to address three items that require immediate legislative action:

  • On April 18, 2023, the governor declared a State of Emergency to address flooding in Utah communities. Because risks of flooding, landslides, mudslides and other impacts from this winter’s record-breaking snowmelt continue, Gov. Cox is asking the Legislature to extend the State of Emergency.
  • He’s also asking the Legislature to reallocate funds to address the costs of snow removal, flooding, flood response and mitigation.
  • Finally, he is asking the Legislature to consider amendments to House Bill 225, Firearm Possession Amendments.
