Utah’s 14th annual Clear the Air Challenge

Help improve Utah’s air by traveling smarter during the month of July

Please join the Salt Lake Chamber, UCAIR, and TravelWise Utah as we kick off the 14th Annual Clear the Air Challenge. The Challenge, issued by business, government, and community leaders, is a month-long competition designed to encourage Utahns to reduce vehicle emissions by choosing alternatives to driving alone.

Studies indicate that approximately half of Utah’s detrimental air quality is attributed to the emissions generated by transportation. Engaging in the Challenge serves as an incentive for Utahns to adopt smarter driving practices, intending to safeguard our environment, bolster the economy, and enhance our overall quality of life.

As a result, individuals participating in the Clear the Air Challenge employ TravelWise strategies such as telecommuting/remote working, carpooling/vanpooling, utilizing public transportation, trip chaining, and opting for walking, biking, or using a scooter as a means to minimize emissions and contribute to the improvement of air quality.

Since the Challenge started in 2009, participants have made a material difference in improving Utah’s air quality. More than 1.3 million trips have been eliminated, over 6700 tons of emissions reduced, and 20 million miles — along with $8.5 million — have been saved.

Join us as a participant and advocate to spread the word and take this year’s Challenge to the next level for Utah. The Clear the Air Challenge starts July 1.
