Utah Global Diplomacy adds Brad Winn, Edward Lopez, Raymon Burton and Thomas Appiah to board

Utah Global Diplomacy has announced the appointment of four new directors to its board. The addition of these directors supports the organization’s expanded efforts to promote respect and understanding between the people of Utah and other nations through citizen diplomacy. The appointments include:

  • Brad Winn, Professor of Practice in Leadership & Strategy at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business
  • Edward Lopez, Deputy Director of Community Engagement at Promise South Salt Lake
  • Raymon Burton, Executive Director of One Refugee
  • Thomas Appiah, President and CEO of Appiah Consulting Team International Inc.

“I am delighted to welcome four new members to our growing board of directors,” said Kimberly Madsen, Utah Global Diplomacy board chair. “Their professional and personal experiences not only reflect a commitment to enhancing Utah’s global connectivity but also demonstrate strong leadership qualities that will advance our mission.”

Charged with directing Utah’s leading citizen diplomacy nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, the Utah Global Diplomacy board oversees efforts to shape foreign relations by connecting people in Utah with individuals from diverse cultures worldwide. The board consists of community leaders who are deeply invested in advancing Utah’s growth, stability, and global connectivity.

About The New Board Members: 

Brad A. Winn currently serves as a Professor of Practice in Leadership & Strategy at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business, where he directs the Executive MBA program. Winn brings a wealth of experience in higher education and government, having served in executive positions and as a former member of the Utah State House of Representatives. Winn is passionate about leadership and organizational productivity.

Edward Lopez is the Deputy Director of Community Engagement at Promise South Salt Lake. Lopez is dedicated to uplifting communities and ensuring all voices are heard through building trust, cultivating reciprocal relationships and developing community-minded leaders.

Raymon Burton is the Executive Director of One Refugee, a nonprofit focused on providing refugees with access to higher education and professional careers. Burton believes in the power of education to bridge gaps in equality and achievement.

Thomas Appiah is the President and CEO of Appiah Consulting Team International Inc. and actively promotes diversity and inclusion as a member of the Diversity Board at Zions Bank. Appiah’s dedication to community service is exemplified by his roles in organizing humanitarian efforts in Ghana and his involvement with Utah Global Diplomacy.
