Southern Utah event series helps women explore paths to leadership

Southern Utah University’s Michael O, Leavitt Center for Politics and Public Service, Utah Tech University, Utah Women Run, and Women’s Leadership Institute are pleased to announce and invite women from across southern Utah to attend two great events that will showcase the opportunities for leadership for women in the region. The series, titled “The Urgency of Women’s Leadership: Discover Your Why, Discover Your Way,” aims to inspire and empower women to take on leadership roles in their communities and beyond.

Building on last year’s sold-out event, which focused on highlighting the various pathways women can take to become leaders, this year’s series promises to be equally inspiring. The series offers a great chance for attendees to learn from leaders from diverse backgrounds how to use their individual skills and experiences to positively impact their communities.

The first event in the series will be a reception held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The reception will feature a presentation by a leading expert on gender intelligence, Barbara Annis, who will share her research and perspective. During the event, we will explore the similarities and differences between men and women and how they each contribute uniquely to leadership in Southern Utah communities. Additionally, there will be an interactive panel discussion with experts, including Barbara Annis, CEO of the Gender Intelligence Group; Jacki Zehner, CEO and Founder of ShePlace/SheMoney; Pat Jones, CEO and Founder of the Women’s Leadership Institute, and Nina Barnes, former Cedar City Councilwoman and Utah Women Run Board Member.

The second event in the series is on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm, with lunch provided. The event focuses on exploring the many pathways to leadership that individuals can choose and embrace in a way that resonates with them. The event will feature panel discussions, interactive audience conversations, and individual stories presented by speakers, including President Stacey Yardley McIff of Snow College and President Mindy Benson of Southern Utah University, Natalie Gochnor, Director of the Kem C, Gardner Policy Institute, Maile Wilson-Edwards, former Mayor of Cedar City and Corporate Lawyer, and Mayor Michelle Randall, St. George, and many more.

Take advantage of this chance to discover your why and your way to leadership. Join us at “The Urgency of Women’s Leadership” events and be inspired to make a difference. Registration is at https://wliut.com/tuwl-southern-utah-2023/.
