UVU appoints Clyde Companies executive to Board of Trustees

Clyde Companies President and CEO Jeremy Hafen officially took the oath of office today as the newest member of the Utah Valley University (UVU) Board of Trustees and will begin serving immediately. He was appointed to the board by Utah Governor Spencer Cox and the Utah State Senate in September 2023.

As a UVU trustee, Hafen will play a crucial role in shaping the university’s future and ensuring its commitment to excellence in education. Trustees are responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of UVU, its curriculum, policies, finances, degrees, facilities, and bylaws and advocating for its interests. They work closely with the university president and other key stakeholders to make informed decisions that benefit the entire UVU community.

“Jeremy Hafen is a proven leader in our community. I am grateful for his willingness to serve on UVU’s Board of Trustees,” said Astrid S. Tuminez, president of UVU. “He understands our passion for student success and the need to provide relevant, quality education that will prepare our students to succeed in Utah’s workforce. His extensive experience in the construction industry and his passion for education make him an invaluable asset to our board.”

Hafen’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for UVU as it continues to expand its programs and facilities to meet the growing needs of its student population. With his construction expertise and understanding of the importance of quality infrastructure, he will also contribute to the university’s ongoing efforts to create a conducive learning environment for all students.

“I am honored to join the UVU Board of Trustees and contribute to the advancement of this exceptional institution,” said Hafen. “UVU has a strong commitment to student success, and I am excited to work alongside my fellow trustees to ensure that every student has access to a high-quality education. Together, we will continue to build on UVU’s legacy of excellence and innovation.”

The opportunity reflects Hafen’s leadership and commitment to education. In this new role, he will play a meaningful part in shaping university outcomes. “The momentum at UVU is undeniable,” Hafen said. “I’m honored to be a part of its future. With President Tuminez at the helm and such outstanding fellow board members, the future is truly bright for every Wolverine.”

Prior to his current position at Clyde Companies, Hafen served as president of Sunroc and Sunpro, both subsidiaries of Clyde Companies, as well as vice president of administrative services at Clyde Companies. In addition to his current role, he serves as board chair for Mountainland Technical College and was previously chair of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce.
