Utah Impact Partnership surpasses $15 million goal for homeless services

The Utah Impact Partnership (UIP), a leading coalition of philanthropic organizations dedicated to addressing critical issues facing Utah — including homelessness and housing instability — has reached an ambitious $15 million fundraising goal for homeless services in the state. Following this milestone, UIP is renewing its commitment to raise an additional $15 million, with an initial $1 million already committed.

UIP’s initial fundraising campaign was designed to match the state of Utah’s $15 million contribution. This continued effort by UIP underscores the growing confidence in our community’s efforts to foster social mobility and economic prosperity. These funds will significantly enhance statewide homeless services, adhering to guidelines set by the Utah Homeless Council and integrating new planning and accountability measures.

“Utah Impact Partnership’s achievement in reaching the $15 million goal for homeless services is a testament to the collective power of philanthropy and community partnership,” said Randy Shumway, treasurer of Utah Impact Partnership and co-chair of the Utah Homeless Council. “This success underlines the effectiveness of our coordinated funding model, proving that together, we can address the most pressing issues in Utah and create a substantial, positive impact. We are deeply committed to this journey, focusing our efforts on alleviating trauma, stopping lawlessness and ensuring our actions have the maximum impact on enhancing the well-being and prosperity of our communities.”

Contributions and support for this initial fundraising round were provided by:

  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Cicero Group
  • Clark and Christine Ivory Foundation
  • The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation
  • The Huntsman Foundation
  • Intermountain Health
  • The Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation
  • R & S Boyer Community Fund
  • Sorenson Legacy Foundation
  • WCF Insurance
  • Zions Bank

Generous contributions from Utah’s philanthropic community leaders have played a pivotal role in achieving this fundraising milestone, strengthening UIP’s ability to create a positive impact in the community. These contributions come in addition to millions of dollars of philanthropic giving, community financial support and innovative approaches.

UIP has effectively allocated resources to critical projects in partnership with the state of Utah, including $1 million for deeply affordable housing, $1.5 million for detox facilities and $187,000 for a youth shelter in southern Utah. These investments underline UIP’s commitment to deeply affordable housing and essential emergency services. Additional funding items will be announced in the coming weeks to further fuel Utah’s holistic and strategic approach.

UIP is looking ahead with renewed commitment. Building on the success of this fundraising round, the organization will secure another $15 million to further its impact and provide services that support Utah’s most vulnerable populations.
