Utah Valley University (UVU) is pleased to announce Martin Baron, former executive editor of The Washington Post, as the university’s spring 2024 Presidential Lecture Series speaker. The event will be held on March 26 at 11:30 am in the Keller Building’s Vallejo Auditorium on UVU’s Orem Campus. UVU students, faculty, and staff, as well as business and community leaders, are invited to attend this highly anticipated lecture.
Baron’s new book, “Collision of Power: Trump, Bezos, and The Washington Post,” will be the foundation of his speech, providing valuable insights into the intersection of politics, media, and power dynamics.
The book delves into the complex relationship between former President Donald Trump, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, and the renowned newspaper. Baron’s expertise and unique perspective make this book a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the dynamics of power and the role of the media in today’s society.

Baron’s distinguished career spans over four decades, during which he has held prominent positions at several large news organizations. Prior to his tenure at The Washington Post, Baron served as the editor of The Boston Globe, where he led the newsroom to win multiple Pulitzer Prizes, including the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for The Globe’s groundbreaking investigation into the Catholic Church’s cover-up of clergy sexual abuse.
Baron’s commitment to journalistic integrity and pursuit of truth has earned him widespread recognition and respect. His leadership at The Washington Post was instrumental in guiding the newspaper to win a remarkable 10 Pulitzer Prizes during his tenure.
