Building Bridges: Opportunities for internationally trained teachers in Utah

Join the event Building Bridges: Opportunities for Internationally Trained Teachers in Utah on Monday, April 29, at the Salt Lake Community College Miller Campus. The Utah Center for Immigration and Integration is hosting the event in partnership with the Utah State Board of Education and the Department of Commerce’s Office of Professional Licensing Review.

The event focuses on elevating Utah’s diverse and thriving economy and communities by bridging talent pipelines of refugees, immigrants, and other New Americans with opportunities to pursue careers in education. Internationally trained professionals with a background in education will learn about licensing and credentials from the state of Utah while learning how to navigate career opportunities with local school districts.

The event highlights opening remarks from Patty Norman, USBE deputy superintendent of student achievement. Attendees will learn about teacher licensing information, hear from a panel of professionals who have navigated the teacher licensure process, and be presented with opportunities about Utah’s dual language programs.

The event ensures access to the most accurate information for international community members interested in pursuing this career path. It also provides a bridge for school districts and institutions to utilize their experience and education to support students in Utah.

The free event will be held in English and Spanish to accommodate multilingual attendees.
