On the evening of November 8th, 2024, the Utah Senate Democrats met in caucus to elect the Senate Minority Leadership. The new leadership team for the 66th Legislature includes:
- Senator Luz Escamilla, D – District 10, will serve as Minority Leader
- Senator Karen Kwan, D – District 12, was elected to serve as Minority Whip
- Senator Jennifer Plumb, D – District 9, will serve as Minority Assistant Whip
- Senator Kathleen Riebe, D – District 15, will serve as Minority Caucus Manager
Senator Luz Escamilla, Minority Leader issued the following statement:
“I am honored to continue serving as Senate Minority Leader and to continue serving with the Senate Minority Caucus to represent and stand up for all Utahns, especially those who often feel underserved and underrepresented in our Capitol. We will continue working collaboratively with the Majority to create good policy—always upholding integrity, respect, and the values that strengthen our Senate and our state.”
