Utah sees improving graduation rate for fourth consecutive year

The Utah State Board of Education is proud to announce that the newly-released 2024 Cohort Graduation Report shows that Utah’s overall graduation rate reached 88.8 percent in 2024, marking a 0.52% increase from 2023. This marks four years of stable gains in Utah’s graduation rates. The latest data reveal significant milestones in student achievement across the state, demonstrating continued progress in education and student success.

“Utah’s students continue to excel and this achievement reflects their hard work and the unwavering support of their teachers and families. We’re especially thrilled to see the gains for students with disabilities. This success underscores the importance of providing every student with the resources and support they need to thrive,” said Aaron Brough, Director of Data and Statistics. 

The Utah State Board of Education remains committed to supporting all students and ensuring they have the tools, resources, and support necessary to succeed. The continuous increase in graduation rates reflects the collective efforts of educators, families, and communities to create an environment where every student can reach their full potential.

Other Key Highlights from the 2024 Cohort Graduation Rate Report Include:

  • 47,477 students graduated from Utah’s high schools as part of the 2023-2024 Cohort.
  • Seven of the nine reported student groups increased their graduation rate from 2023.
  • Students with Disabilities showed the greatest increase from 2023.
  • The graduation rate for English learners has consistently increased since 2016.
