USBE: High school students receive awards, scholarships for artwork

The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) is pleased to announce that six high school artists were presented with Purchase Awards at a ceremony for the 53rd Annual Utah All-State High School Art Show today at the Utah State Capitol. This art show features artwork from students in grades 11 and 12, from both public and private schools.

Each submission has been determined eligible for inclusion if it was an original or adapted concept that uses more than one source. Artwork that is directly copied from one source without original or creative adaptations is not allowed in this exhibition, nor is any imaging created by artificial intelligence.

“We always welcome the opportunity to celebrate the creativity and artistic talent of Utah’s students. These Purchase Awards allow USBE to directly encourage and support young artists, as well as brighten our office building with the displayed pieces,” said Fine Arts Coordinator Laurie Baefsky.

The following students received USBE Purchase Awards:

  • Emry Carpenter, Pleasant Grove High School
  • Gabe Harper, Olympus High School
  • Zoe Hein, Copper Hills High School
  • Karla Lazareno-Villegas, West High School
  • Callie Reyes, Copper Hills High School
  • Alston Roach, Logan High School
