Caroline Gleich to join Senator Bernie Sanders at Salt Lake City stop of ‘Fighting Oligarchy’ tour

Former U.S. Senate candidate, ski mountaineer, and conservation advocate Caroline Gleich will join U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders this weekend at the Salt Lake City stop of his Fighting Oligarchy tour. Gleich will deliver remarks focused on reclaiming the American Dream from billionaire influence.

“I grew up in a frugal household, and in my career have worked as a nanny and a gear shop cashier,” Gleich said. “I know what it’s like to fear losing your job because of an injury or pregnancy.”

Gleich made history as the first woman to ski all 90 lines in Utah’s iconic “Chuting Gallery” and is widely known for her advocacy on climate policy, public lands, and social equity. In 2024, Gleich ran for U.S. Senate to challenge corruption, protect democracy, and to inspire young people and unlikely candidates to run for office.

“I’m honored to join Senator Sanders to fight back against the growing influence of billionaires in American politics and to take the power back for the people,” she added.

In her remarks, Gleich will highlight how unchecked billionaire greed is driving the nation’s overlapping crises—from housing and healthcare to climate change and plastic pollution.

“We spend over $800 billion a year on the military while kids go hungry and seniors ration insulin,” said Gleich. “That’s not national security—it’s moral bankruptcy.”

“Our public lands are not for sale. They are not bargaining chips to fund tax breaks for billionaires. These are the places we hike, ski, hunt, fish, and find happiness and healing. Once they’re sold off, they’re gone forever—and we cannot let that happen.”

The Fighting Oligarchy tour aims to mobilize opposition to the extremist Republican reconciliation bill that gives the top 1% a $1.1 trillion tax break by selling off public lands and cutting essential services for working families, children, veterans, and seniors.
