What: The Gary R. Herbert Institute for Public Policy at Utah Valley University (UVU) and the Utah Office of Data Privacy will host the first-ever Data Governance Summit to unpack the technical details and practical implications of the state’s new data governance laws.

The summit will focus on three key goals ––
- Establishing scalable privacy and data governance practices that can be implemented consistently across state and local programs.
- Breaking down data silos to foster collaboration and align information systems around the needs of Utah residents.
- Designing public services that are grounded in transparency, accountability, and public trust.
Established in 2022, the Utah Office of Data Privacy supports government agencies in protecting the personal information of Utahns. Its mission is to develop public trust by protecting data, increasing transparency, and giving individuals control over their information.
