Today, Sutherland Institute released new national survey data highlighting the experiences and perspectives of American men.
While majorities of respondents, on average, report good mental and physical health, satisfaction with work, and a positive sense of purpose and fulfillment in life, the data reveals that a significant subset of respondents report struggling in each of these domains.
Highlights from the Sutherland/Y2 Analytics survey data:
- 36% of American men say they are “struggling to understand my place in my community or in broader society.”
- 16% said they believe the things they do in life are “not very” or “not at all worthwhile.”
- 30% said they don’t have anyone in their circles they can talk to about their own mental health, while 22% believe acknowledging mental health issues as a sign of weakness.
This report provides a brief overview of national topline survey results. Additional detailed analysis from this survey data will be coming soon.
