The Utah Democratic Party has announced the appointment of Jade Velazquez as its new Executive Director. Velazquez, who currently serves as Chair of the Salt Lake County Democrats, will officially begin his new role on September 8, 2025.
Velazquez has led the Salt Lake County Democratic Party since 2023, overseeing organizing, outreach, and electoral efforts in Utah’s most populous county. He has confirmed he will continue to serve as County Chair through the November 4 municipal election to ensure a smooth transition and maintain momentum for local candidates. Following the municipal election, a special election will be held to fill the Salt Lake County Democratic Party Chair position. The date for the special election will be announced soon.

I am so proud of what we’ve built together and I look forward to bringing my background in communications, organizing, and technology to build a modern, dynamic party ready for the future,” Velazquez said.
