J. Stuart Adams, a lifelong Davis County resident, businessman, and current President of the Utah State Senate, announced today that he is running for re-election to continue representing Senate District 7.
Adams was chosen by his colleagues to serve as Senate President in 2018, an honor he describes as the privilege of a lifetime. By profession, Adams is a businessman and partner in The Adams Company, a real estate, construction, and development firm based in Kaysville. His leadership in the private sector has been widely recognized. In 2002, he was named Business Person of the Year by the Utah State Chamber of Commerce, and Builder of the Year by the Northern Wasatch Home Builders Association.
During his time representing Davis County, President Adams has led and supported major policy initiatives, including advancing Highway 89 to improve safety and reduce commute times for families across Northern Utah. He has prioritized tax relief for everyday families and championed legislation to support first-time home buyers by sponsoring and passing S.B. 240, the First-time Homebuyer Assistance Program, during the 2023 General Session. This law has made it possible for more Utahns to afford homes, build equity for their future, and live their American Dream.
In the Legislature, President Adams serves on several of the state’s most influential committees, including the Executive Appropriations Committee and multiple legislative oversight committees, where he plays a key role in shaping Utah’s budget, overseeing government operations, and ensuring accountability to taxpayers.
“When I first asked you for your vote and your trust, I promised to focus on securing a brighter future for our state,” Adams said. “As the 2026 legislative session begins, I remain committed to working hard for every family in our district and across Utah. I am running for re-election so I can continue delivering on the promises I made and help secure a brighter future for our state.”
President Adams and his wife, Susan, live in Layton, where they raised their four daughters and are now proud grandparents to sixteen grandchildren. He emphasized that staying connected to constituents and listening to their priorities will remain central to his service and his campaign.
