Utah House Minority Caucus announces 2026 legislative priorities

The Utah House Minority Caucus announces its 2026 legislative priorities, a forward-looking agenda focused on lowering costs for working families, protecting Utah’s air and water, strengthening public education, defending good governance, expanding inclusion, and improving community safety:

“Our work is grounded in fairness, transparency, and opportunity for every Utahn. This session, we’re focused on practical, community-informed solutions that make life more affordable, protect our natural resources, strengthen schools, and ensure everyone can live with dignity and safety.

2026 Priorities

Economy & Affordability: Address rising costs by expanding pathways to affordable housing and homeownership, improving access to healthcare, and increasing childcare options, while investing in compassionate solutions to reduce homelessness and support Utahns experiencing homelessness.

Environmental Protection: Improve air quality, conserve precious water, and invest in renewable energy while advancing meaningful Great Salt Lake restoration goals and protecting public lands.

Education: Build a well-funded, student-centered public education system by supporting educators, improving learning outcomes, investing in after-school opportunities, and ensuring schools are welcoming for every student.

Good Governance: Protect checks and balances, defend the independence of the courts, strengthen transparency and accountability, and safeguard voting access and fair democratic processes.

Inclusion & Representation: Uphold civil rights and equal protections, support immigrant families, strengthen respect for tribal sovereignty, and ensure every Utahn is treated with dignity.

Community Safety: Advance evidence-based safety policies by expanding mental health and crisis response resources, preventing domestic violence and sexual assault, and promoting responsible public safety practices.”
