Utah Senate Democratic Leader Luz Escamilla has been named a 2026 Remarkable Women honoree by ABC4’s Good Things Utah, recognizing her nearly two decades of public service and leadership on behalf of Utah families and communities.
The annual Remarkable Women series highlights women making a meaningful impact across their communities during Women’s History Month.
ABC4 recognized Escamilla’s leadership, noting: “Utah Democratic Senator, and Senate Minority Caucus Leader, Luz Escamilla has been serving Utahns as an elected official for nearly two decades. Her focus is generally on legislation that supports Utah children, families, and people from underserved communities, especially in the area of health and human services. Escamilla was the youngest person ever elected to the Utah Senate, the first immigrant and first Latina elected as well. She’s a political pioneer in Utah.”
Escamilla has continued to lead on policies that strengthen families, expand opportunity, and improve the quality of life for Utahns. The Utah Senate Democratic Caucus congratulates Leader Escamilla on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates her continued service to the state.
