Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson has sent a letter to newly appointed U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin outlining serious concerns regarding the reported use of the recently purchased facility in Salt Lake City as a large-scale immigration detention center.
Mayor Wilson is calling on DHS to remove the site from further consideration and to pursue a more transparent and collaborative process moving forward.
