Join the Utah Division of Consumer Protection for its annual Declutter Day

Safely Dispose of Sensitive Documents, Electronics, and More. 

Take the clutter out of your life with the Utah Department of Commerce’s Division of Consumer Protection’s annual “Declutter Day,” on Friday, April 17, 2026. The event is free and open to members of the public, not businesses.

Utahns can safely dispose of sensitive documents and electronics to reduce the risk of identity theft and fraud. They can also shred documents containing private or personally identifiable information, such as bank statements, tax records, and medical bills. People can drop off medications, old electronics, or other personal items.

Items that CANNOT be accepted are:

  • Needles
  • Thermometers
  • Pressurized cannisters
  • Any hazardous waste
  • Liquids
  • Flammable or explosive materials
  • Weapons
  • Large appliances
  • Construction materials
  • Furniture
  • Auto parts

When: Friday, April 17th, 2026, from 7 am -3 pm

Where: 595 Guardsman Way, SLC (Tailgate Lot)

Why: To safely get rid of unwanted items that need special disposal methods.
