Utah Minority Leaders Respond to Dolores Huerta’s Passing

Today, we mourn the passing of Dolores Huerta and honor a life defined by courage and an unwavering love for our communities. As a leader of the Chicano movement, Dolores organized immigrant workers and helped build a labor movement at a time when women like her were rarely welcomed in those spaces, let alone in positions of leadership.

She spent her life fighting for others, and even in her final years, she found the courage to speak her truth as a survivor of sexual violence. Like Dolores, we know what it means to walk into rooms where few people look like us. She reminded us that we belong there, too. We hope to honor her through our own work, and our greatest hope is that our children inherit a world where they no longer have to fight the same battles she did. May she rest knowing that the fight continues, and that generations will carry it forward. ¡Sí se puede!
