King has raised over $170,000 since January 1st, while Governor Cox only raised just over $155,000. This is the first time in recent memory that a statewide Republican incumbent was outraised in a reporting period by a Democratic challenger. This is a testament to the strength of Rep. King’s candidacy and Utahns’ desire to elect a governor focused on results, not rhetoric – for the better. Many Utahns feel that they haven’t left their party, but that their party has left them, and they are looking for a new coalition. Brian King is not a typical Democratic candidate and these fundraising numbers reflect the broad coalition being built across the state.
