47G hosts global leaders at Project Alta Summit

47G | Utah Aerospace and Defense (47G) is convening national and global leaders in aerospace, infrastructure and public policy today for the Project Alta Summit, a first-of-its-kind gathering designed to accelerate the deployment of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in Utah and beyond.

More than a traditional conference, the Project Alta Summit represents a coordinated effort to bring electric and autonomous aircraft into operational use—integrating them into transportation networks, emergency medical response and critical logistics systems. The event brings together the full AAM value chain, including aircraft manufacturers, energy providers, infrastructure developers and regulators, with a shared goal to turn aerial innovation into a reality.

“Utah has built one of the most collaborative and forward-leaning aerospace ecosystems in the country, and Project Alta is a natural extension of that leadership,” said Aaron Starks, president and CEO of 47G. “This summit is about execution. We’re bringing together the companies, policymakers, and innovators who are ready to move beyond concept and into deployment—and Utah is where that work is happening.”

Utah is building the partnerships, infrastructure and policy frameworks necessary to deploy AAM at scale. The Project Alta Summit reflects that momentum, serving as a catalyst for cross-sector alignment and tangible progress. The Summit will highlight how AAM can address some of the most pressing challenges facing communities today, from facilitating mobility and improving air quality to expanding access to critical medical services and cargo delivery.

“Advanced air mobility represents a transformational opportunity—not just for transportation, but for how we prepare for and deliver global events,” said Brad Wilson, chair of 47G. “Utah is uniquely positioned to lead, and efforts like the Project Alta Summit demonstrate how we can align industry, government and infrastructure to deliver real-world solutions at scale.”

The Utah Department of Transportation’s (UDOT) leadership in advanced air mobility is underscored by its recent selection by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to participate in the eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. With more than 30 public and private partners, including leading aircraft manufacturers, operators and technology providers, uFLY: America’s AAM Crossroads to the West is actively advancing the real-world integration of advanced air mobility. Many of these partners are members of 47G, reinforcing the state’s collaborative, deployment-focused approach and positioning Utah and its regional partners at the forefront of next-generation aviation in the United States.

By convening leaders across industry, government, and infrastructure, the Project Alta Summit reinforces Utah’s role as a national model for how emerging aviation technologies can move from concept to deployment, faster, more collaboratively and with real community impact.

“Having led the FAA during a period of significant aviation innovation, I see advanced air mobility as the next major evolution in how we move people and goods,” said Michael Huerta, 47G Project Alta chair and former administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration. “Initiatives like uFLY demonstrate what effective integration can look like—bringing together states, industry and federal partners to move from concept to coordinated deployment to advance AAM in a way that is collaborative, scalable and aligned with the future of the national airspace.”
