Salt Lake Chamber Receives ACCE Award for Communication Excellence

SL Chamber LogoThe Salt Lake Chamber has received the 2016 Award for Communication Excellence from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.

The Salt Lake Chamber received this recognition for work done on the Clear the Air Challenge campaign, the annual month long competition that runs through the month of July. The campaign encourages Utahns to drive less and drive smarter to help improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion and conserve energy in Utah.

“We are delighted to be awarded this distinction,” said Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “This award doesn’t just belong to the Salt Lake Chamber, though. We have outstanding partners like UCAIR, TravelWise, Intermountain Healthcare and UTA. Ultimately, It belongs to everyone who is participating in or has participated in the Challenge. Thank you for everything you do and for helping make a difference in our community’s air quality.”

Over the course of seven years, the time in which the Clear the Air Challenge has existed, thousands of Utahns have worked together to eliminate:

  • 907,260 vehicle trips

  • 11,748,098 million miles

  • 4,253 tons of emissions

“This award, and the Challenge itself, would not be possible without strong community partners,” said Ryan Evans, vice president of business and community relations for the Salt Lake Chamber. “We could not accomplish the work we do without forward-thinking organizations that understand the importance of air quality. This award recognizes their work, as well as that of the Salt Lake Chamber.”
