Democrats Launch Ads Tying Republican Members of Congress to Trump

Donald Trump 11Here’s how national Democrats plan to use Donald Trump’s nomination as a wedge issue against Republican members of Congress.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) plans to spend about $1 million on two hard-hitting ads (which you can see below) tying Republicans to Trump ahead of the Republican convention in Cleveland.

From Morning Consult:

One of the ads says, “Republicans in Congress are just standing by him. But shouldn’t they really be standing up to the bully?” The other commercial features people who say they are Republicans, who ask, “If he’s our standard bearer, what the heck happened to our standards?”

Democrats released the ads ahead of Trump’s meeting with congressional Republicans on Thursday. The DCCC said the ad campaign will have a particular focus on competitive races in California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, Texas and Virginia, along with political leaders in Washington, D.C.
