Fourth Congressional District candidate Doug Owens today introduced the fourth plank of his new Accountability and Ethics Reform Plan designed to strengthen ethical guidelines to hold lawmakers in Washington more accountable to the people they represent.
To date, Owens has called for passing a “No Budget, No Pay” law, a five-day workweek for Congress, and ending automatic pay raises for lawmakers.
As the fourth plank of his new plan, Owens is calling for passage of a law that would end luxury travel for members of Congress paid for by lobbyists and special interests.
“Luxury trips paid for by lobbyists and special interest groups are done as a reward for voting a certain way and to gain special access to lawmakers,” Owens said. “Members of Congress should be accountable to the people they represent, not lobbyists and special interest groups.”
