Gov. Herbert Orders Flags Lowered for Baton Rouge Victims

Gov. Gary R. Herbert has authorized the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the state of Utah to honor victims of the attack on police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Gov. Herbert issued the following statement:

“Jeanette and I are saddened to learn of another violent attack on law enforcement officers and extend our deepest condolences to the many family members, friends and colleagues who will feel the impact of this loss for years to come. We pray that our nation will come together and put an end to the terrible violence and accompanying heartache that afflicts all of us at this time.”

Previously the flags were to be raised on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Instead, flags will continue to fly at half-staff until sunset on Friday, July 22, 2016.
