State Charter School Board Names Finalists for Executive Director

The Utah State Charter School Board today named Dr. Jennifer Lambert and Dr. Anna Treviño as finalists for the position of State Charter School Executive Director. Both applicants will be interviewed in a public meeting on Thursday, August 11, 2016.

Lambert of Salt Lake City has been a charter school specialist at the Utah State Board of Education office for the past three years. She has previously worked at the Utah Education Policy Center at the University of Utah and as a data and statistics coordinator for the Utah State Board of Education. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Utah. She is currently serving as the interim charter school director.

Treviño of Lindon has been principal of the Utah County Academy of Sciences charter school in Orem for the past nine years. She has previously served as a school counselor in the Alpine and Weber school districts as well as the Seminole County School District in Florida. She holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership and foundations from Brigham Young University.

Interviews will be conducted during the course of the August Utah State Charter School Board meeting on August 11 at the Utah State Board of Education Office, 250 E. 500 South in Salt Lake City. There will be a live stream of the interviews. Exact time of the interviews will be established and posted along with the full agenda before August 11.

The State Charter School Board in consultation with State Superintendent of Public Instruction Sydnee Dickson will select the replacement for Dr. Marlies Burns, who resigned in July to pursue other interests. A Board subcommittee screened initial applicants and presented finalists to the Board for interviews.
