Gov. Gary Herbert says he will vote for Donald Trump in November despite his penchant for saying outrageous things.
In his monthly KUED press conference, Herbert said he would not be an “apologist” for the Trump campaign. “Some of the things people like about Mr. Trump are his unvarnished comments,” said Herbert.
Herbert says there’s a difference between what is said on the campaign trail and how a person would govern.
(Herbert) said all candidates say things he disagrees with, including Clinton, the former secretary of state.
“I think governing and campaigning are two different things. How you campaign is not necessarily how you’re going to govern and vice versa. Again, he’s never run for office before, so he doesn’t have that traditional way of doing it,” he said of Trump.
