Trump Sounds the Alarm About Utah

Donald Trump 04During a speech in Florida on Thursday, Donald Trump made his pitch to evangelical voters by saying he has a “tremendous problem” in Utah.

Trump told the crowd he needs help in a number of swing states because of flagging poll numbers, and called on evangelical voters to help his campaign.

From ABC News:

“You’ve got to get your people out to vote, and especially in those states where we’re represented,” said Trump, referring to religious populations. “[We’re] having a tremendous problem in Utah. Utah’s a different place and I don’t know, is anybody here from Utah?… I didn’t think so. We’re having a problem.”

The Beehive State has gone for Republicans in the last 12 presidential elections, including in 2012 when nearly 73 percent of voters cast their ballots for Mitt Romney.

Trump’s call for help comes a day after Hillary Clinton published an op-ed in the Deseret News making her pitch to Mormon voters.

The most recent UtahPolicy.com survey finds Trump in the lead in Utah over Clinton by 12 points, but Libertarian Gary Johnson is gaining support at 16%.
