Salt Lake City School District’s superintendent, Dr. Alexa Cunningham, Ed.D., recently announced a new Breakfast with the Superintendent program, where Cunningham will be hosting open house breakfasts at schools in the district throughout the year.
Parents and community members who are interested in sharing experiences and discussing issues with Cunningham are encouraged to attend.
This year marks Cunningham’s first as superintendent of schools, as she was officially placed in office in early July. Cunningham has 27 years of experience working in education and most recently served as superintendent in Arizona. To begin her work at Salt Lake City School District, Cunningham has prepared a Superintendent’s Entry Plan for the first 90 days on the job and beyond. Her plan emphasizes her desire to meet and listen to parents and community members in an effort to improve the district.
“It’s my wish to make a difference in the lives of students, as well as their parents, and members of this great community,” said Cunningham. “The Breakfast with the Superintendent program is one way I’ll be able to reach and connect with parents and the community.”
The breakfast program will be held from 7 – 9 a.m. at appointed schools in the district throughout the upcoming school year. The program kicked off August 30 at Rose Park Elementary School.
Additional breakfasts will take place on the following dates and locations:
September 14 – Glendale Middle School

December 14 – Riley Elementary School
January 24 – Uintah Elementary School
