Rep. Rob Bishop is expanding his already sizable lead over Democrat Peter Clemens in our latest UtahPolicy.com survey.
The Dan Jones & Associates poll finds Bishop leads Clemens by 37-points. That lead has grown from a 30-point margin in August.
Bishop gets 61% in our latest survey while Clemens has 24%. Independent candidate Chadwick Fairbanks is at 5%. Libertarian Craig Bowden is at 4%. 7% say they’re undecided.
Needless to say, Bishop appears headed toward an eighth term in Congress without much opposition.
Our August survey had Bishop leading Clemens by a 54-24% margin.
Some important demographic numbers from the survey:
- Bishop wins Republican voters 86-4%
- Clemens gets 84% of Democrats. Surprisingly 6% of 1st District Democrats say they’ll vote for Bishop.
- Bishop wins independent voters 48-29%. 10% of independent voters say they prefer Fairbanks, while 7% are undecided.
The survey was conducted October 12-20, 2016 among 216 likely voters in Utah’s 1st Congressional District with a margin of error +/-6.67%.
