The Salt Lake Chamber Women’s Business Center hosted its 40th Annual American Express Women & Business Conference and Wells Fargo ATHENA Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 at the Little America Hotel.

The conference, which was attended by hundreds of businesses leaders from throughout the state, boasted an agenda with inspirational speakers and informative breakout sessions designed to honor and strengthen women in the workforce.

Included among the speakers were Kristin Armstrong, a three-time cycling gold medalist, Ally Isom of the LDS Church, Cydni Tetro and Sara Jones of EnableMint, and Pat Jones of the Women’s Leadership Institute.

Speakers discussed topics that included fearless reinvention, personal brand, conflict resolution, corporate marketing, and overcoming adversity.

Additionally, the ATHENA Award, which is a prestigious national award presented annually to an active member of the Salt Lake Chamber who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in business, was presented to Lori Chillingworth, Chief Credit Administrator for Small Business at Zions Bancorporation.

“I am humbled to be honored with the ATHENA Award and to be included in a group of such wonderful and creative leaders,” said Chillingworth upon receiving the ATHENA. “The previous ATHENA Award honorees are women who not only are strong but set important examples in our community. I look forward to representing that standard.”

To be considered, ATHENA Award recipients must provide valuable service by devoting time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community and assist women in reaching their full leadership potential..

In addition to the ATHENA Award, four other women received the Pathfinder Award, which is given to community leaders who “create new paths” and promote the development and recognition of women in business.

The women honored with the Pathfinder Award were:

  • Maura Carabello, President, The Exoro Group

  • Dr. Ivy Estabrooke, Executive Director, USTAR

  • Laura Kaiser, Executive Vice President and COO, Intermountain Healthcare

  • Kathy Luke, Vice President of Center for Community Development, America Express
