New SLC Council Leadership Chosen for 2017

Salt Lake City Council Members have elected a new leadership team for 2017.

At the Council’s January 3 meeting, the seven-member group chose Stan Penfold, who represents District 3, as the new Chair.

Charlie Luke, who represents District 6, was chosen as the Vice Chair.

“I am honored to serve Salt Lake City as Chair of the City Council,” said Penfold, who was first elected to the Council in 2009. “I look forward to working with my colleagues, residents, businesses, community partners, and the City administration to help support and expand the many qualities that make our city great.”

Luke was elected to the Council in 2011.

The new leadership team will serve a standard, one-year term beginning immediately. They take over from outgoing Chair James Rogers and Penfold, who was Vice Chair.
