Derek B. Miller statement on Trump’s withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership

World Trade Center Utah President and CEO Derek B. Miller released the following statement on President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership:

“President Trump’s decision to walk away from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a loss for Utah businesses, since international trade is an important part of the state’s economy,” said Derek B. Miller, president and CEO of World Trade Center Utah. “International business is big business in Utah, supporting 22 percent of all jobs and making Utah the fourth fastest growing export state. Trade deals will continue to be made, but the question that remains is whether the U.S. will have a seat at the table or if it will be left out. We need a national policy that will allow Utah businesses to continue to succeed in the global economy.”
