Mayor Ben McAdams today announced that Holly Yocom was approved by the Salt Lake County Council as his choice for Director of the Department of Community Services. Yocom had been serving as the Associate Director for the past two years.
“Whether you are looking for interactive activities for kids, sports and exercise, music and theatre, conventions and tradeshows or a cosmic learning experience, Community Services has a program or facility for you. Holly is a skilled professional who has deep roots in the community and she is dedicated to our goal of providing access to diverse opportunities for all county residents,” said Mayor McAdams.
McAdams said Yocom has held a variety of responsibilities during her career. Before becoming the Associate Director of Community Services, she was Executive Director of the Utah Film Center. There she managed a multi-million dollar budget and worked with many filmmakers and community partners to present a wide variety of films for the community to attend.
“I am honored to work with the residents of Salt Lake County in this role. The Community Services Department truly impacts each of us in our daily lives and I can’t think of a better way to serve this community,” said Yocom.
Yocom is a graduate of the University of Utah. She holds a Master’s of Public Policy from the U of U, with an emphasis in economics and statistics. She has been a volunteer with the Central Utah Arts Center, the Salt Lake City Library Board, and the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice. She is married and has a daughter.
Salt Lake County Council members approved Yocom’s selection during today’s Committee of the Whole meeting. She begins work immediately.
