Utah lawmakers and Gov. Gary Herbert are headed toward a showdown over the rules for a special election that may or may not happen.

If Rep. Jason Chaffetz steps down, Republican lawmakers want the candidates to replace him chosen exclusively by party delegates, while Gov. Herbert wants candidates who gather signatures to also get a place on the ballot.

The upheaval at the University of Utah shows it’s a big mistake to try and take on the Huntsman family. However, the Deseret News got the scoop on the whole story over the Salt Lake Tribune, which is owned by the Huntsman family. That’s embarrassing.

The U.S. House passed their version of the Obamacare repeal. When the bill moves to the U.S. Senate, Sen. Orrin Hatch will be a major player.
