Salt Lake Chamber announces new Cybersecurity Leadership Council

The Salt Lake Chamber is proud to announce the launch of the new Cybersecurity Leadership Council.

The Cybersecurity Leadership Council is comprised of business leaders, experts, and stakeholders that include public sector advisors, legal entities, insurance providers, technology companies and cybersecurity consulting firms, with the goal of educating the business community on the shared responsibility of cybersecurity.

Today’s criminals have taken to the digital world to undermine computer networks and critical infrastructure; stealing proprietary information from our businesses and violating the privacy of internet users. As Utah strives to mitigate this cyber risk, the Cybersecurity Leadership Council will undoubtedly become an invaluable tool and powerful avenue for collaboration and influence. Some of the Council’s major objectives will be to develop Utah specific resources and best practices in cybersecurity for Utah’s business community, and to provide expertise and direction for our policymakers on cybersecurity.

“One of the biggest threats to Utah business that often goes unmentioned: cyber attacks,” said Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “No matter the size of the business or organization, cyber attacks hurt. The financial burden, the cost of business disruption, and the loss of consumer trust are bad for any business. That’s why as Utah’s ‘voice of business’ the Salt Lake Chamber is making it a priority to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity for businesses of all types and sizes.”

The Salt Lake Chamber’s cybersecurity education and awareness programming includes Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Cybersecurity Business Roundtable Series and the 2018 Cybersecurity Conference.
