Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the senior member and former Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Chairman of the Senate Republican High-Tech Task Force, issued the following statement on the nomination of Andrei Iancu as director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office:

“I congratulate Mr. Iancu on his nomination to be Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. As the Chairman of the Senate Republican High-Tech Task Force and author of numerous patent-related bills, including the Hatch-Waxman Act, I take a keen interest in the PTO and its leadership. Over the coming months, I look forward to discussing with Mr. Iancu his views on patent reform and other critically important issues as his nomination moves through committee and onto the Senate floor.”
