Hatch says he’s troubled by Moore’s views on gays, Muslims, but will support him if he’s elected

Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch said he doesn’t agree with some of Alabama Republican Roy Moore’s views on homosexuals and Muslims, but that wouldn’t stop him from supporting Moore.

AL.com reports on the following exchange between Hatch and a producer for NBC News:

Frank Thorp V, a producer and off-air reporter for NBC, tweeted this exchange with Hatch:

Asked about Roy Moore’s comments about Muslims and homosexuality:

Hatch: “Well I have trouble with those.”

Q: Are those concerns enough for you not to support or endorse him?

Hatch: “If he gets duly elected I’m going to support him.”

Moore previously said Islam was a “false religion” and “homosexual conduct should be illegal.”

Moore’s bid to win the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions has been endorsed by four Republican Senators, including Utah Sen. Mike Lee.
