USTAR to host Utah Technology Innovation Summit and Governor’s Science Medals in June

The Utah Science and Technology Research Initiative will host the Utah Technology Innovation Summit on June 6, 2018 at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek. The event will culminate with the 2018 Governor’s Medal for Science and Technology awards ceremony.

“The Utah Technology Innovation Summit is a unique opportunity to explore the criticality and expanding influence of innovation on Utah’s growing knowledge economy,” said Ivy Estabrooke, Ph.D., executive director of USTAR. “The conference will provide opportunities to hear from global leaders on a range of topics that will expand Utah’s role in emerging technology and the delivery of technology to market.”

The conference will explore challenges and opportunities to stimulate economic development and commercial growth through innovation. Throughout the event attendees will have the opportunity to explore the role of deep technology in Utah’s economy, network with innovative thought leaders, and learn more about the thriving technology innovation ecosystem in Utah.

In addition to morning and afternoon plenary sessions featuring keynote speakers, the conference will include the following breakout sessions:

  • The Future of Autonomous Systems
  • Securing Funding and Strategic Partnerships
  • Best Practices for Effective Governance
  • The Role of Government in Innovation

The afternoon plenary and lunch includes a keynote address and remarks from Governor Gary R. Herbert and the presentation of the 2018 Governor’s Medal for Science and Technology awards, the highest award in the state for significant contributions to the science and technology fields.

In bringing together innovators, decision makers, thought leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs, the summit promotes the exchange of best practices and ideas to catalyze growth in science, tech, innovation, and entrepreneurship across Utah.
